Amin’s Story
My passion for movement was rooted in my late teens. I experienced significant childhood trauma in a challenging family dynamic. Breakdancing gave me solace and pulled me away from a broken life of petty crime and addiction. My focus later shifted away from movement….
"Fitness and movement changed my life."
The dawn of 2016 brought a transformational and pivotal moment. At that point, I was overweight, addicted to drugs, alcohol and junk food.
I was awakened through an epiphany and became acutely aware of my decisions and my unhealthy ways. An indomitable will allowed me to reconnect with myself through an overhaul of my lifestyle, enabling me to return to the man I was always intended to be.
Fitness made it possible for me to transition back to myself; someone who is passionate about movement and sharing it with others. All at once, my desire for drugs, alcohol, the party scene and junk food dissipated as a metamorphosis took place.
Fitness became the cocoon I needed to transform my life. I joined a gym, hired a personal trainer, began weight training and changed my eating habits while all at the same time giving up alcohol and drugs.
For the last decade, fitness and wellness has impacted my life and has set the stage for Dopamine Wellness, where we srive to help you change your life and circumstances through strength. mobility, movement and mindset.

Jenn’s Story
I experienced a turbulent relationship to food and my body for years. Healing, when I was ready for it, took time and remains a daily process - yoga, meditation, movement and nourishing food are key. One thing in my life was a major catalyst in healing the relationship to food and my body…
“The journey home to ourselves is the greatest one we’ll ever take.”
In 2018, I began researching regenerative agriculture, local food systems and food sovereignty while interviewing farmers, food artisans and chefs in order to write my book, Flat Out Delicious: Your Definitive Guide to Saskatchewan’s Food Artisans, which was published in 2020 and won a Taste Canada silver medal.
As I embarked on a 15,000km-plus research trip across Saskatchewan, I gained a deep appreciation for sustainable, biodynamic, and holistic ways of growing and raising food in harmony with Mother Earth. Writing Flat Out Delicious changed my life.
Hearing farmers’ stories, watching their animals roam freely on grassy, open fields and feeling the healthy soil run through my fingertips spearheaded a huge shift in my body. I began to remember a connection to the land that I had once felt as a child but that had gotten lost as I grew older. I deepened my connection to food and where it came from, something that had been missing from my life. And through this connection, I developed gratitude and affection for my body.
Today, my connection to the land and to my food is a spiritual experience. Eating is an intimate and sacred act, as the food we eat (much like the breath we breathe) reaches every cell of our bodies. It doesn’t look perfect every day and there’s plenty of room for messiness - it’s all part of being human! Our bodies know how to heal if we can learn how to listen and trust.
